Question for anyone with social anxiety disorder..or has a lot of experience working with it?
Do you find that sometimes you’re so shy that everyone can tell, and you feel transparent in terms of the other person being completely aware that you’re only making polite conversation because you’re so dam nervous in the first place and don’t want to look even more nervous or worse wierd by saying nothing, so it gives the feeling of it being a fake and pointless conversation, with you and the other person bound by the unwritten rules of a silent, mutual agreement – like ”Yes, lets both BS eachother and pretend this conversation is valid and normal to avoid us both the embarrassment”
Other shy but never-the-less relatively well functioning people pick up on it the most because obviously they can identify it more easily in other people by relating it back to themselves, but still the embarrassment is raw…if you have social anxiety can you relate to what im saying, sort of like most ppl can tell you don’t really want the conversation and are just fronting out of shyness to the point you feel phoney, and also a bit guilty for triggering their awkwardness?
I don’t think im being paranoid….it’s blatently obvious when someone is laughing nervously, or just from their awkward silence being deafening, lol…im talking more about dealing with people like pizza delivery guys, or shopkeepers or anyone else you have to deal with for a minute or two just to be able to eat everyday….
Cheers all answers
Thanks Libby, I understand that you’re just trying to make an extra buck, hence blatently spamming my question, but its a bit immoral doing it in this section and capitalizing off people’s misery, so kindly fuck off.
Peace-lover, I understand you unlike the first answer genuinely mean well, and while I believe in a bigger purpose, and higher noble power of some sort, I like many other people can never subscribe to the particular beliefs you are encouraging, and while I won’t go to the extent of labelling you a ”Religious conversion spammer” not too dis-similar to the other type of spammer here, I will give you a hint – the moment you post a long answer in the mental health section and ppl see the words ”Lord” and ”Him” we are highly likely to be put off christianity even more so….my advice is to use a different method, something more subtle that’ll grab their attention without making them suspicious,…never make the mistake that ”mentally ill” people are somehow necessarily easily suggestible….hope that helped.
.
And sorry if that seems harsh, but I have memories of me in a hospital bed after losing it, and a baptist minister I only vaguely knew waking me up and immediately preaching with a smug grin on his face…this didnt bother me and I was thankful, but i’ll never forget the church ‘counsellors’ dropping me like a stone later on in life when I had a bad breakdown and needed help most – which happened to be around the same stage in time they were pretty sure they were never going to convert me….
I don’t talk to people like shopkeepers or pizza delivery people unless they talk to me first. I just endure the awkwardness because I know that the conversation will be even more awkward if I start it up. I feel like most of the time they are just talking to me out of politeness and they either think I am really stuck up or just plain strange.I do feel bad for making situations awkward because I am very good at doing it and I know they feel it to. It does feel phony to me a lot I think others can tell it is not natural for me to talk.

Know that God can help you live a better life if you want Him to help you. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end — time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God’s blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can’t explain the world’s natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner’s prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: "Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus’ name, amen." I’m Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church and also see about their weekly Bible study group as a good way to learn about God’s will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.
