why is marijuana so frowned upon?
I understand its an endless debate but it shouldn’t even be a debate! Some people say "oh people who smoke weed are stupid" this is what i say to you YOU’RE STUPID! How much do you want to bet that more than half of the people who say that, have smoked ciggs? Ciggs are worse and drinking is also worse. Yet for some reason people think weed is so bad, it’s more natural than beer!!! if anything alcohol should be illegal if you think weed should! how many deaths does alcohol cause a year(don’t even get me started on ciggs)? over 100,000 thousand! 60% of all homicides are because of alcohol! when the hell was the last time you heard of a guy that was stoned that killed someone? never! you are never going to see an angry stoned guy everyone is just like "lets jam and listen to some music or play some video games or watch a movie" it makes people more peaceful! and the idiots out there that frown on it have no proof to back up anything! "oh well it makes people dumber" yeah? i got a 4.5 gpa. "oh it impairs your judgment" yeah? you can drive better high than drunk, you don’t see a girl giving a guy a bj cause shes stoned."Oh well it’s a gate way drug" what!? im sorry but more people start drugs because of drinking than smoking weed! trust me im 18 ive seen it all in my generation, also i would say almost 80% of people who smoke weed, just stay on weed and nothing else. It helps stressed people relax at the end of the day and helps sick people feel less pain. wtf is your issue people!? oh btw don’t comment poorly on this if you drink, because all you’re doing is proving me right.
Also don’t go with the whole "weed kills brain cells" it’s not true!! "marijuana kills brain cells — is based on research done during the second Reefer Madness Movement. A study attempted to show that marijuana smoking damaged brain structures in monkeys. However, the study was poorly performed and it was severely criticized by a medical review board. Studies done afterwards failed to show any brain damage, in fact a very recent study on Rhesus monkeys used technology so sensitive that scientists could actually see the effect of learning on brain cells, and it found no damage."

Alcohol does severe damage to your body as does smoking cigarettes
over 100 thousand**
i used generation in a poor way, what i meant by it was that a family generation all my cousins are my age(weird i know) and i meant basically my age group, sorry about that
sinful weed smoke does not give you cancer of the lung. all it does is make your cardio worse thats it. i’ve done my research on this very well actually and that you just tried to prove me wrong on it doing bad for you lungs is ridiculous if cigg smoke does a lot worse to your lungs.

because there’s usually too many seeds and stems in it.

trust me im 18 ive seen it all in my generation ahhahahahahahaha. stupid kid.
Vicious Fishs | Feb 01, 2010

You’re obviously already closed minded to argument or you would have done more research, about anything you smoke does damage to your lungs. -And I’ve NEVER sucked a fag that wasn’t 100% human.

I’m more a Special-K fan myself.

like anything thats harmless (for instance sexuality)
a mantra of forbidding can turn it into something ugly (the way the church teaches to go about with sexuality)

since the media (f*king "all knowing" media) tells everyone it’s not good 4 U…it is so

it’s also easier to control people because you can bust someone for having weed, even if it’s his only offence. it easily incriminates a large population who would otherwise be peaceful and law-abiding

the key is: moderation with moderation
alcohol, something that is legal, can also be misused and turn someone into a wreck

but yeah… HAIL DAH FRIGGIN MEDIA! ;)

It has the stigma of being considered unsociable by dogma even though most have toked at least once in their lifetime or got at least got a contact high at a Fleetwood Mac concert without toking.

Marijuana was originally seen as a ‘black’ drug and so outlawed. The ‘white’ drugs alcohol and tobacco remained legal. This has rubbed off into societies views. However, because more and more people smoke cannabis with positive results it adds to the disillusionment of the West’s justice system.

However, in some circumstances marijuana can trigger psychotic episodes. Also scientists are beginning to find evidence use at a young age can have a detrimental affect on your memory as you grow older. I used marijuana heavily when I was young and it caused me a lot of problems mentally as a young adult. Thankfully I am fine now. I don’t use marijuana any more.

Alcohol and tobacco however are much MUCH more dangerous. Here in the UK our national health service spends billions of tax payers money fixing drunk lairy people at weekends. Drinking and young drinking is a major social problem here.

Although I LOVE our socialised health service and am very HAPPY that the U.S is getting a more social health system, you will get the same problems we are experiencing with tobacco and alcohol. That is non smokers and non drinkers complaining that they have to pay to help smokers and drinkers. This has even gone as far to people complaining they have to pay tax for fat people’s healthcare.
Jenk | Feb 01, 2010

listen.. i aint gonna sit here and use big words to try and explain this.. Ganja is illegal because the government wont make any money of it.. how much money does alcohol and tobacco bring in for america every year? a whole lot.. I drink and smoke cigarettes and let me tell you somethin.. I drank, got into a fight, got arrested..drank again, got into another fight, got arrested..drank again drove my car and crashed into a tree.(i miss that damn car)..I smoke cigarettes and i run a mile and my lungs burn. I smoke cigarettes and wake up spittin out yellow sh*t.. I smoke weed and enjoy they fact that i am in a good fuc*kin mood and everything is hilarious.. If the devils lettuce was legalized then people would prolly stop drinkin and stop smokin sqaures and stay wit the pot.. and america would lose money.. and with these past presidents america cant lose no more damn money lol.
muscle hamster | Feb 01, 2010

Obviously marijuana smokers are ’stupid’ if they believe driving whilst stoned makes them better and safer drivers.

Besides which marijuana is addictive – I know because I was addicted to it for six years.
ice | Feb 01, 2010

its still illegal because so many people still believe the lies that were made up of it. if enough people learn the truth it will eventually happen. but there is a quicker way, everyone take there seeds and plant them on state property somewhere, parks would probably be the best, and make them spend so much money trying to destroy it all they finally give up. that’s more or less what they did with alcohol and it worked. people everywhere were making it and they couldnt fund getting rid of it. if a quater of the people who smoked it did this i dont think it would take to long to get legal. just got to show them they cant stop it and were not gonna give up.

Can someone be sued for continually filing false and malicious charges against you?
My fiance has been falsely and maliciously charged for trespassing by her ex-husband’s enthusiastic to please replacement wife. He does nothing to stop her, and in fact enjoys it. And based on their past ten years of history I presume he may be telling her what to do so he can remain looking like an upstanding and good guy. The false charges stem from my fiance returning a few personal items belonging to her 17 yr. old son, (underwear, toothbrush, etc.) from his 5 day court-ordered visit with her over the Christmas holiday. Before catching her flight back to South Carolina that night, she placed her son’s forgotten items in a mailbox a few hundred feet away on the edge of the state-owned road where he lives with the father. It was too late to call him that night, so she called him the next day to tell him where he could find the items. His step-mother overheard the phone conversation, and immediately started threatening trespassing charges, which she followed up on later. The Commonwealth’s Attorney decided the charge was frivolous, and didn’t want to prosecute, but the step-mother insisted that my fiance be charged, (can she really be powerful enough to override a commonwealth’s attorney’s decision?) The step mother has even perjured herself early on by telling the magistrate that she saw my fiance come down the drive-way, and she did no such thing. How could she see her come down the driveway if she was talking to her on the phone 400 miles away?

Now, my fiance has been told by her lawyer that she has to leave her home in South Carolina, and drive over seven hours back to Virginia to accept the charges, and possibly be thrown in jail until the trial is held in April sometime. Her lawyer says authorities may force her stay in Virginia til the trial is held. Since she’s lived in Myrtle beach for the last five years, she knows no one in VA., has nowehre to stay, can’t afford to rent a second VA. residence, and will lose her job, and therefore her home if she can’t be here to go to work.

What can she do to first of all, to beat this bogus charge, and not lose her job at home, as well as her livelihood? And secondly, is there some kind of lawsuit or charge that she can make against the step-mother to keep her from ruining her constitutionally guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and her very way of maintaining a living? This has grown and festered over the last nine years since their divorce to the point where it would make a good movie of the week on the Lifetime channel. But for now, she’s just trying to keep from losing everything she owns because of having to answer to false and malicious charges. Help!

unless one person has a restraining order on the other, there can be no trespassing charged brought against the other when there is a child involved.. droping a child off and/or their things would not be considered trespassing..

If the magistrate said they are not going to do anything about this, then that would be the end of.

The one person can get in trouble if they continue to try and bring up charges on another person without cause,

can astigmatism cause blindness?
my eyes are sensitive to light(photo-phobia) and i also have astigmatism problem .when i stray to light it will cause headache and sometimes my visions were blurred(i can’t see anything).
are these symptoms will cause to blindness?

The astigmatism only refers to a misshape of your cornea. The cornea will have a warp instead of being smooth. It can affect your perception of things you see but wont affect your vision.

Not sure about the light sensitivity. That’s probably the cause of your problem and not the astigmatism.

I dont have a theme for a reason.. if you have a theme.. pple can have an idea on how to overcome you.. with out a theme.. it makes it a bit harder for your opponent what to expect

i dont know why people like assualt mode for stardust, its just a waste of time, not worth getting assault mode activate for 500 more attack. take it out for solemn judgement.
Whats the theme for your deck?

eternal_glory | Jan 01, 2010

i’m sorry your deck isn’t that organized on one type, if you have a stardust assualt, thats going to be really hard to summon unless you have a deck made for summoning it, plus if you opponent had some way of getting rid of your traps its useless, plus your other cards aren’t that strong either.

Is this a good introduction to a book?
Hello my name is Chandler and i’m 15, I am writing a book about the end of the world, I wanted to know if this was a "catchy" introduction to a story, does it make you want to read more? Or is it just plain boring. The reason I want to know this is, if i wrote the whole book this way and its boring, nobody will read it, but if its catchy, it might catch the eye of a publisher.

*The world on it’s deathbead*

There was allot of shouting going on in the streets that day. Cars began to con-jest and honk loudly at one another. The wind began to slow its whisp and the streets were lit bright with a glare. The masses were praying for mercy at the great circular light in the horizon, indeed they all feared for our lives. We simply stared in dis belief as the clouds began to part into smoke rings that moved outward. A gust of wind caught my side as I walked along heading back to my apartment. My eyes ever so often caught a glance of the mass happening, but I dismissed it all so that I would remain calm in my final minutes of life. The crowd stood motionless, silently waiting as the light grew nearer. I couldent help but notice all of these people showed no emotion at all, they gazed quietly knowing this was most certainly the end. The wind then died down and a sudden silence fell upon us. I watched as the light grew brighter and brighter from off to the ocean. The sky began to wrinkle and rip as if it were a painted canvas. There was a prominate humming noise rang through the streets like an approaching train. Maple leaves fluttered from the trees and snapped past us signaling that the wind was picking back up I then picked up my pace to a full run as I darted around randomly parked cars in the streets. My eyes were sent up above me to see the moon, it was a dark ring in the blareing white sky. People began to shout as the air grew hot and shadows shot past us darkening. My attention was directed to the sound of classical music which was being played from the open door of someones car. There shouting was silenced as masses of glass shattered from the skyscrapers and fell to them. Shockwaves of dust roared down the streets like a hoard of rampaging bulls. The dark escence of death began to flood around me. While darting across the street, I looked behind to see that the whole sky lit up to the flareing britness of the sun. I then rushed to the shadow behind a local bank, while doing so I felt the heat and air pressure rise to an unworldly amount. My hands were sent over my ears as they began to pop. I shielded my whole face hiding in this dark oasis of shade. Then, all pressure, heat and sound stopped, my squinted eye caught a glance of tiny lines of smoke that trailed from every object and eventually curved into the direction of the bright light. Then, my resting place, the shadow of a bank grew pitch black as opposed to the white asphalt and surrounding sky scrapers. The smoke reversed directions and my vision began to fade out. I realized that this was the end for me, my life was no more. Something had happened to the world that was truly evil, something that nobody expected. I began to realize that everyone on the beaches must have been either burt to death, or crushed by the extreme air pressure. Even in this darkened shadow, my skin felt as if it were melting which was probibly true. What seemed like hours were only a few seconds of light and the sound of humming. My mind raced with possibilities of what was going on, I pondered the thought I was the last living being in this city, or perhaps the world. The pain soon grew to enormous to think, the heat was unbearable and I knew that this was where I would have to give up. Instantly, my brain activity ended as if I were falling asleep and that was the last thing I remember from the world I had known for so long.

While our old wold had come to an end, a new world…. had just been born.
Please note this inst the final version, spelling and punctuation arent corrected.

A little confusing. Only so many descriptive sentences should be used and I think you used to many. Work on spelling too. Get an editor or someone good with writing who you trust to help you. I think there is hope for it.
Mbjhhjk | Feb 03, 2010

"…but if its catchy, it might catch the eye of a publisher."

– It doesn’t work like that. You need more than a catchy opening, you need superb writing. Your work is laced with spelling and grammar errors to the point that no publisher will take you seriously. Unfortunately, the bad writing kills it for me. It’s good for your age, but work on your writing, especially the basics like spelling and grammar, and even sentence structure. Don’t worry about publishing, just write for fun. I stopped reading somewhere near the end because I couldn’t continue to take the English language being botched this badly. No offense, and you can get angry with what I’ve written, but being angry doesn’t improve your writing. Keep trying and you’ll get better over time. Just forget about publishing until you drastically improve; it takes years of writing before you start writing quality stuff. Good luck.

One more thing, if it was better written then it would’ve caught my attention.
Joss | Feb 03, 2010

It’s a good start!

I think you have a knack for using imagery, which is definitely a key component of writing a good story. Also, the harried pace of the writing helps involve the reader in the scene.

On the other hand, however, the previous poster is right. You should definitely work closely with an editor on this, because there are a lot of misspellings and mechanical errors. You will definitely need to break this up into paragraphs as well, because reading it as one block of text can get confusing. If you are serious about being published, you will want to submit a sparkling manuscript, as free of errors as possible. (Although, at 15, I would say practice writing more before you consider publishing. For writing, just like any other pursuit, practice is the best way to grow and improve.)

Also, when you use imagery you still need to be thoughtful of its implications. Although the language is figurative, it still needs to portray a believable image that makes sense. One example: "My hands were sent over my ears as they began to pop." My first thought was to ask who sent your hands over your ears? It just doesn’t really make sense. You may consider saying something more like, "I threw my hands to my ears just as they began to pop." or "Instinctively, my hands shot up to my ears…"

I hope this helped! I wish you luck in the writing process :) Don’t give up, and practice makes perfect!

I think your idea to write a book is ambitious.

Let me mention your strong points first, and then offer a critique with a few suggestions.

You have a vivid imagination and a good vocabulary, as well as some ability with words.

You need to develop that ability if you want to be a writer. To become a published writer will take a lot of work over time. And I mean a number of years. Malcolm Gladwell in his book "Outliers: The Story of Success," based on thorough research, has pointed out that it takes about ten years, or 10,000 hours, of practice to become a master at writing or piano or a sport, and so on.

Publishers look at specific things in reading usually the first paragraph or so of a novel (I take it you are considering writing a novel) to decide whether to read on or reject it.

Let’s pretend I had written your long paragraph above. Then I put it away for a few weeks then went back to it and re-read my writing. What would I do?

Well, I would decide that not to many people would want to read my long paragraph, so I would break it up into 7-10 smaller ones.

I would notice my spelling errors (this is a super-quick turnoff for publishers) and run my programs spell check and correct the errors.

I would go over my writing, line for line, noting my word choices–do they really say what I mean them to say?–and my punctuation.

I would dramatize things more, get another character or characters in there, with some dialogue: "Hey, what’s happening. where are you going? Wait!" Something like that. Make it less narration, more scene. I would compare it to published, best-selling novels, for style and structure.

"The reason I want to know this is, if i wrote the whole book this way and its boring, nobody will read it, but if its catchy, it might catch the eye of a publisher." It takes a lot more than catchiness to win over a publisher. This book, written by a very successful agent, goes over most of what publishers are looking for: "Writing the Breakout Novel" bu Donald Maass…

http://www.amazon.com/Writing-Breakout-N ovel-Donald-Maass/dp/158297182X/ref=sr_1 _1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=126522532 0&sr=8-1

If you’re serious about being a writer, spend a few years learning your craft and developing your abilities.

How can i not be a clicker in WoW?
I bought the game in 2005 and im currently playing as a hunter. I am doing good in raids and in bgs but i feel like if i wasnt a clicker i could have gotten killshot on that guy or used steady shot quicker. And on top of that im leveling a dk and i know you cant be a clicker for that so my question is. How do i move? I see that you press buttons 1-0 and the _ after that but i cant see how i move and hit buttons at the same time help!

When I first started playing I was a clicker too – I had a friend that insisted that CLICKING IS BAD and I eventually got used to having everything bound (except for a couple of extremely rarely used abilities)… I had to map my keybinds all over the dang keyboard to make sure I’d remember what button to hit for certain abilties, though, because even if my button bars showed the keybinds on them I’d have to waste time looking for the spell and seeing what keys to press unless i picked something I could easily remember ("I" for Innervate! "H" for Hibernate! *sigh*).

Unfortunately at the same time my buddy never explained how mouse turning worked or why it was desirable, so I played for well over a year before I even heard the term and once I did, I was never able to get used to it. I’m pretty much resigned to being a keyboard turner forever, every time I try to practice mouse turning my camera angles get screwy or I wind up being unable to move as precisely as I want (when you’re used to moving with the keyboard you can get pretty good at it), and I get frustrated and just do things the usual way. http://www.usfine.com

You mean clicking to move your character?
Well the standard way to move your character for many games is the WASD steup.
W=Up
A=Left
S=Back
D=Right
Q and E = Strafe

and then you click the or use the number keys for skills
xXnsmXx | Sep 12, 2009

The game has tons of modifications to it, and you can rearrange your actionbars so your attacks are as you like it. not to mention that you can keybind any button to any attack, which really helps. so if you have any main attacks you use all of the time, you can keybind them the 1 , 2 , 3, or i like using the F button because it is right next to the wasd movement keys. But you can also install mods onto WoW and people use mods to totally change around their ability’s. They help because they totally allow you to modify wow in any way you would like.

Also, you said that you are having trouble with raid dps and such, well, other then just gear, a lot of people lack the right dps in raids because they dont know any proper attack rotations. i like going to the forums of http://elitistjerks.com/ and check out the class mechanics. They tell you what the best specs, glyphs, attacks, enchants, ext. for your character that will give you the best in-game results.

and dont be worried about being a clicker, i still click a lot, and i max out my raids dps to the max, its just how you adopt your play style, and make youself the best in game, and out :)

Both books are good, but as a 16 year old, you may like True Believer better. It’s about a younger couple, where as Nights in Rodanthe is about an older couple. I would also really suggest A Walk to Remember. It’s about a couple of teenagers, and it was my Sparks’ favorite book.

Chronicles of an Exorcism (2008)

IMDB rating: 3.20

Actors: Ashford Matthew,Kahn Rob G.,Keziah Ray W.,Miller Nick G.,Ross David Michael,Horror,

Could Harry Potter movies be Christian?
At my school, they find the Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings to be the only things with symbolism that involve witchcraft on the same lines of Harry Potter. Now, I’m not saying that there isn’t symbolism in those movies, and I’m also not trying to offend anyone, but don’t you think that they could have less of a " we’re right and you’re wrong" attitude, and have more of a " To each his own convictions” attitude? At our school we are taught that if we feel it is a sin to were jeans, that we should not were jeans, that is a conviction. If we aren’t convicted that the Harry Potter books and movies are wrong, should they really treat us like we should have an exorcism for mentioning the words "Harry Potter?"
Please let me know your true feeling about what I have just wrote. Thanks

I’m a Christian and I like all the movies you mentioned. I dont think in to it that deeply. Those movies wont touch my soul. They’re just entertainment.

I always compare things to Peter Pan, myself.

It’s slightly better fiction than the fiction of the bible.

It is a movie, meant to rake in the $a$h.

I don’t think that there is anything wrong with watching those movies. I love them all. As long as you know where the boundary lines are between fantasy and reality, you are okay. The real problem starts when people decide that they can be like Harry Potter. Practicing witchcraft is totally a sin!

im Chistian, i dont read them, but have seen one of the movies with a friend. i thought the whole movie was stupid. and it felt evil with all the phantoms or whatever they were. i dont consider them to be Christian at all.

The problem is that most Christians think that anything that shows viewpoints of other religions in a positive or attractive light are themselves "anti-christian".

Harry potter is seen as promoting witchcraft because Harry, Hermione and the others are Witches and Wizards. The fact that the "witchcraft" within the book has no relavence to modern paganism or witchcraft is simply ignored.

It is a reactionary attitude that demonizes anything not either Christian or definitively neutral that brings about such attitudes.

The Chronicles of Narnia movie was actually marketed directly to churches and had pre-screenings at churches because it is considered to be a parable of Christ’s life. So if some people view that story as a shining example of Christianity and others view it as an example of witchcraft I suppose anything is possible, right?

Well, I’m impressed that you can go to such a traditionalist school and still think for yourself. You should be commended for that. I don’t get what the big deal with Harry Potter is. At its core, it’s a good against evil story, and Harry is good. He always does the right thing, which is the most important teaching of religion.

Funny story about that– I once worked at an after school program reading to kids and my boss specifically told me no Harry Potter. So I asked her if I could read The Thief of Always, a kid’s novel by Clive Barker (the same guy who wrote Hellraiser). She said that was fine, just no Harry Potter. See what happens when people refuse to think for themselves?

Well, I am a fundamental baptist. and you know how we type are.

other than the basic "good versus evil" theme i see nothing even remotely Christian about the Harry Potter movies and books. why is it Christians can’t seem to refrain from trying to co opt everything for Christianity. if they can’t usurp it they’ll seek to destroy it.
nebtet | Dec 29, 2006

Actually no, If you study both Narnia and Lord of the rings novels there are parallels with the Bible and have very great teachings about love and righteousness, and spiritual warfare. Harry Potter is strictly fantasy, and somewhat frightening at that. It’s moral and teachings are not that from that which is good, but that which is dark and I do not want my children seeing them until they can understand the difference. Blessings to you.

Anyone know if the nudity in Heavy Rain is optional?
As in, if the scene is coming up, I can choose whether or not it will happen. I am aware of the shower scene and that you can get different angles that don’t show it, but I recall a strip tease clip which sees your character, well, stripping. Is there any option to NOT strip? I really don’t care, but my Mom or possibly my Dad would probably take the game away if they saw it, and I don’t get the chance to play games alone too often. And please, NO sarcastic answers about how it is so stupid that nudity is worse than violence, I am just trying to get an answer to a simple question.
BTW, I am not some dumb 12 year old who wants to play big boy games, I am in high school, I just have rather strict rules.
Thank you. I mean, I am a huge film buff so I am sure I will be able to see a striptease/shower scene coming. I was just hoping there was some other way to resolve whatever conflict Madison is faced with which causes her to strip. Perhaps just hit the dude in the face minus the stripping, I don’t know. Worst case scenario, I can’t avoid it so I turn pause and turn the game off and play that part later when no adults are around.

I doubt you’ll get a real legitimate answer until the reviews come out or it’s released, as no one has played it yet (besides the demo).

I think that in the stripping scene, doing the strip tease isnt the only way of achieving your goal. i think there are other means of getting where you want to get.

but i highly doubt there will be any pre-nudity warnings or anything, like they had for "No Russian" in Modern Warfare 2. One of the main guys behind Heavy Rain said that he doesnt care what the media thinks about certain elements of the game (ie the nudity) and that all the nudity is in there for a reason. i really dont think he would be one to pander to the media or the ESRB. So i would highly doubt there will be a "skip" option, but as i said, i dont think stripping is the only option in that scene.
